2019 NFL Week 4: Steelers Friday Night Five...

Happy Friday to yinz and hope everyone is ready for a great weekend.

Not much is going on with me except for getting ready to watch a lot of football this weekend. The college championship games should be great and then the Pittsburgh Steelers will play the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.

Health-wise I went backwards this week and thus now starts another sad cycle of doctor visits. They started on Wednesday with me having to get seven blood test tubes filled. Keep your fingers crossed again.

As usual, I have five questions for yinz to answer starting now and up until the kickoff of Sunday’s game between the Steelers and the Cardinals. I look forward to reading the guesses this week.

Peace and love and Go Steelers!

1 – Over/under 238.5 passing yards for Steelers quarterback Devlin Hodges against the Cardinals on Sunday?

2 – Over/under 35.5 receiving yards for Steelers tight end Vance McDonald against the Cardinals on Sunday?

3 – Over/under 43.5 total amount of points scored in the Sunday game between the Steelers and Cardinals?

4 – True or false: In Sunday’s game between the Steelers and Cardinals at least one of these three things will happen: ((“Missed kick extra-point” – “Successful two-point conversion” – “Safety“))

5 – True or false: There will be at least one touchdown in Sunday’s game between the Steelers and Cardinals that covers 30 yards or more. ((ANY TOUCHDOWN))

Recap of 2019 NFL Week 13 Friday Night 5 Questions

Question 1: The Steelers and the Browns turned the ball over three times in this rematch. Cleveland turned the ball over first. It happened on their first possession of the second half. Bud Dupree strip-sacked Baker Mayfield and Cam Heyward recovered the fumble with 4:59 left in the third quarter. Steelers Depot respondents performed well on this question with 64.4% scoring a point.

Question 2: Benny Snell and Jaylen Samuels gained 95 combined rushing yards. Just below the 95.5 yard over/under. Kerrith Whyte was the only other Steeler running back to carry the ball. He added ten yards on three carries. Pittsburgh running backs gained 105 combined rushing yards. Respondents did even better on this question with 67.3% scoring a point.

Question 3: The Browns and Steelers scored only three touchdowns in the game. Kareem Hunt caught a 15-yard touchdown in the first half. Benny Snell ran into the end zone from the one-yard line. Duck Hodges completed a 30-yard pass to James Washington that just exceeded the 29.5 yard over/under. This question had the highest percentage of correct answers. 76.9% answered true and got a point.

Question 4: Considering the two teams combined for 28 points last time it was reasonable to predict a low scoring game. But with the Duck flying free anything could happen even both teams combining to score more than 38.5 points. They did come within less than a touchdown with 33. The closest question yet, but 57.7% took the under and received a point.

Question 5: This question crushed a lot of hopes. The median response predicted Deon Cain catching two passes with 60% picking two. One pass thrown to Cain was negated by a penalty. He did catch his only official target for five yards. It made a first down during the Steelers touchdown drive at the end of the first half. Just 15.4% correctly predicted Cain catching one pass in the game.

Previous Weeks: There are 15- and 5-point bonuses up for grabs from week one by correctly predicting the Steelers and Browns regular season records. The Steelers beat the Browns.  So, 79.3% are still in the running for the 15 point and 74.4% for the 5-point bonuses. 65.9% could end up with both.

SJT63 hit the weekly five-point bonus this week by answering all five questions correctly! 11 other respondents just missed the cut.  DirtDawg1964, Chris92021, Matt Manzo, Jason Campbell, Lil Smitty, RMSteeler, Jason, Buckeye Steel, Donte Williams, and Tom Steelers All the Way all predicted the wrong number of Cain receptions. Jeff McNeil incorrectly predicted that no scores would be longer than 29.5 yards. Keep answering folks, you’re just missing the weekly five-point bonus by a hair.

Here are the consensus responses of Steelers Depot respondents compared to the correct answers:

Questions First team to turnover ball RB’s O/U 95.5 rushing yards Longest TD OVER 29.5 yards Teams score O/U 38.5 points # Cain receptions
SD Consensus BROWNS OVER TRUE UNDER 2
Correct Answers BROWNS OVER TRUE UNDER 1

ManRayX remains in first place on the leaderboard for eighth week but just barely. SJT63 skyrockets to second place just a point behind the leader. Jamie Barnhart remains in third place. Many others just a few points from being in position to win, place, or show for the money at the end of the season.

Jeff McNeil returns to the leaderboard. His first appearance there since Week 8. Well done! No one dropped out this week. At least 10 folks within range of getting back on the leaderboard with one strong scoring week.

Don’t forget to respond this weekend so that you all can maintain the pace. It just takes one good set of answers to make a significant move toward the prize money.
